McIlhaney was instrumental in bringing in-vitro fertilization and emb Joe S. As an innovator in the field of reproductive medicine, he introduced laparoscopy, gynecologic microsurgery and laser surgery to the Central Texas area. In 1995, he left his private practice of 28 years to devote his full-time attention to working with the Medical Institute for Sexual Health, a nonprofit medical/educational research organization he established in 1992.
